Clayton Haywoods confirms his intent to remain at the Tigers until 2019, despite his contract expiring at the end of 2019.
The 24-year-old has spent the last three seasons in the role with the club, but the AFL has announced that Haywood’s contract will not be renewed after the season.
The Tigers have also released another injury list list with Jack Grimes and Josh Dunkley also unavailable for the season after recovering from injuries in Round 19 against Hawthorn.
Haywood’s deal is set to expire at the conclusion of the 2019 season, with the veteran defender being the Tigers’ No.2 ruckman.
His future at the club remains in question with the Lions expected to have to move on from their best player in Josh Kennedy, while the Tigers have yet to confirm a third-string forward in the forward line.
The club has also been left without a second senior forward after signing Jacob Townsend and Sam Day, while Tom Boyd has yet to be named on the club’s injury list.
